Hygiene kits for kids in Siem Reap

We flew up to Siem Reap on Wednesday this past week to participate in a ceremony where over 250 school children from nearby schools were given hygiene kits and given instruction on good hygiene. There was also a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new water filtration system. This system stores and filters water during the rainy season and pumps water from a well during the dry season so the villagers and the school children always have clean water. It was designed by RACHA which is an NGO that LDSC partners with to provide clean water in many areas in Cambodia. We met at the Church on Wednesday tp prepare the hygiene kits and then went to the ceremony on Thursday morning. The ceremony was attended by many local school and government officials. The provincial governor was not there as we had hoped. But we were able to meet which him later in the day. We presented him a gift of an engraved set of scriptures to thank him for his continuing friendship and for participating in the open house in Siem Reap for the new Chapel there. He seemed genuinely pleased with the scriptures even though they are in English and he speaks only Khmer. We were happy to be able to visit with him again to maintain the relationship he has with Church members.
