Interesting Week

This week has been pretty interesting. Some up and downs for sure as we try to get going on the fund raising we have to do to host the Young Ambassadors. Our first attempt was not stellar and so we are doing a rewrite of the presentation to do better. We have great hopes that Vichit can help us a lot. He is a wonderful person who has a lot of influence here. He has worked in the government for years and knows many people including the prime minister and the opposition leaders. They are personal friends of his along with many people in businesses here. He is responsible for getting the Church recognized  here in Cambodia. He has a degree from Harvard among several others. He is such a low key guy you would never guess that he has an international reputation. He advises countries on international economic policy. Amazing that he is so willing to help us meet people and raise funds. Tomorrow he will come to our apartment to meet with the rest of the marketing team.

We met with the people from Tabitha this week. They are a wonderful NGO that help women here. They do so many things and right now their big project is building a women's hospital. So many women die here because they can not afford to get care. The team for Tabitha is an international group that included people from Provo, France, a Bedouin couple who are the first to ever visit Cambodia and a woman who teaches at a university in Korea - Hunt Willoughby's sister!  She knows the Jennings well from when they served as mission president there. So Amazing how our paths cross no matter where in the world we are!

We are making good progress on the plans for the ground breaking in Kampong Thom for the new building to be built there. Hopefully it all will come together as planned. It is pretty hard to help plan when no one there speaks English. Thankfully the wonderful Elders there have been so good to act as go between with the Branch president there. As soon as this one is done we work on the ground breaking in Kampong Cham which will be a much larger building. Note the gold shovels below to be part of the ground breaking. The building is the one for Kampong Thom. 

We also have a good start on our part of the 20 year anniversary celebration. 

Whew! It all seems a bit much some days!  It's a good thing we know we are not alone in all this. Very blessed.
